nous klaer welcomes cosime, a collaborative project between longtime companions arif and job. their debut ep consists of three tracks, including an outstanding version of the a1. most of the record was recorded and arranged on several autumn days, home away from home, facing a freshwater lake. field recordings, made on a former island that is now a peninsula, provide the basis of the hilary ep. on the b side the recordings lay over solid drum programming, centred on the offbeat hat. on the a side fyr offers a more fluid take, resulting in a splendid play of samples and rhythms sewn together. the alternative take of fyr takes on an anything-goes approach, highly club appropriate though moving away from the rhythm backbone. excellent music for pedaloes.

soft talk is the latest alias that natal zaks - our longtime danish friend and a musician we have been constantly releasing under different monikers throughout the last 5 years - picked out for us. he is hands down the most talented producer we have ever met and it is always a privilege to be able release his music under any name he chooses. we have seen his music go through many transformations and they were always for the best. this time we feel the exact same thing, that this is our favorite music ever and we will never want to release anything else again. that is never true of course, but the mercy ep does feel a lot like that.

killer deep spaced out electro tracks!!! over 20 years ago shad t. scott and his pal seven set up isophlux records, miamis infamous first electronic imprint releasing, as they put techno, electro, funk, experimental, and anything good. now in year 2016, shad under his gosub alias releases this sunday at battle ship key titled ep for barba records, staying true to that initial principle. its far away from just being good though, its beautiful and warm electronic music at its best, oozing chill and feel good moods. original two tracks are accompanied with a remix by second time appearing on barba - jtc aka tadd mullinix who this time nicely surprised us with his ol school ny style house beauty. overall one fine classic record this, period.

repress !! having wowed critics and crate-diggers alike with 2012s acclaimed magik cyrkles compilation, psychemagik are now ready to unleash the follow-up, magik sunrise. bristling with psychedelic, cosmic and curiously balearic oddities hand-picked from the depths of their vast record collections, magik sunrise is, if anything, even more inspired that its predecessor.
given that magik cyrkles was widely considered to be one of the best compilations of 2012, that is some feat. that collection garnered praise across the board, appearing in the end-of-year charts of rough trade, juno and piccadilly records. as if that wasnt enough, dj magazine also described it as f***ing great! for magik sunrise, the kent-based duo has dug even deeper into the dusty corners of their record vault, deep in the cosmic forest. the result is another inspired, 15-track collection that gleefully skips between all manner of forgotten gems and little-known nuggets, occasionally stopping to acclaim an otherwise unknown track or artist.

we re glad to say welcome to renè for our second wax. with his residency@circoloco in ibiza since years, he had the chance to play at some of the best gigs in the world. his track anything has a unique touch, with a lot of warm and deep pads that match perfectly with bassline, doing a beautiful atmosphere. renè on the keys never fails, that s what we say! alessandro di maria aka sossa is another italian resident dj of circoloco in ibiza. he worked with a lot of amazing artists like mass prod, quenum, subb-an and many more, especially with his own label garbant wave. his track toga is what we call a trip, ranging from minimal beats to deep pads and chords. certainly this one makes the right job in the warm up! we re happy to have the young talent giacomo trevi in the b side. with releases on claque, superfiction, etruria and more, his track voyage has a powerful 909 groove, with an old school pads and some detroit influences in the chords.

ive been involved in two or three major genres that are very different from each other, says vaughn robert squire from canada, better known as prison garde, who is making his true romance debut with our trep009. about his melody ep, he says: its gospel-influenced house stuff. its in line with the last couple records that i put out, but i feel like its a little more mature and that the quality of the recording is a lot higher than anything else ive done as prison garde. i recorded it at the phi centre in montreal - its a beautiful cultural center in the old port. ango and i locked ourselves in there and did a live record on an ssl in a big room.

bc & co. started out as a small group of friends who surfed and skateboarded together. as they hung out in venice and shared their interests and ideas about music, sounds started to take shape. what started off with no intentions of being anything serious began to develop, inspiring music composer alberto bof, music advisor paul t. and music coordinator alex olson to think about avenues of release. inspired by a seigen ono record put out for comme des garcons in 1988 olson got the idea to release the trio s project under his brand bianca chandon. this limited 12 inch has embodied the spirit of the creators and the motivation of the brand to become bianca s first record release.

moscow label grow continues in fine creative form, seemingly not sticking to a motive or trend but rather concentrating on the strength of character within the music it releases. for the labels eighth release the artist is berlin based the marx trukker, who over the last 10 years has been developing his very distinct sound and recent output on labels like pluie/noir, the untold stories, and most recently noorden, have all been especially impressive. now on grow comes the 4 track vinyl * heavens crackling*, from the title one is expecting something awesome, and the album does not disappoint, right from the off, the first track: * a time well spent*, begins with celestial tones ringing out and the performance develops with great synth work, enlightened and very enlivening, spring is in step and something is beginning. the record continues at such a level throughout, overflowing with rich tones, warmth, and raw sounding percussion. in the second track, * all the boating still a tide to go*, deep warm bass and strings reverberate, as if amidst a hot harbours summer, then the ethereal synths return as magical breezes of cooling wind on a june day. on the bside comes the title track * heavens crackling*, the tone has cooled, there is an autumnal vibe, extended tones of an eerie but reassuring nature provide the ground, from under which a molten bass flows playfully. the final track, * i do anything but its so cold*, as the title would suggest, again time has passed, gone are the warm relaxed echoes of the the opening tracks, winter has come, and a strong percussive energy becomes the driving force of an especially deep and more introverted last track. in heavens crackling there is an uncanny understanding of time passing and representation of being, its present in the patience and performance within every track, and the effect of the album, which seems, like the seasons, to naturally come full circle, is for the listener indeed to experience a time well spent. top marks for the marx trukker!

ontals work excites many conflicting emotions. exuberant, convoluted and theatrical plots define the watchwords attached to the serbian duo. they represent one of the most paradigmatic examples of how industrial/techno can still offer a wide range of pleasant surprises. a visceral understanding of the scenic rhythm space vs. void establishes a metamorphic composition in short of an almost baroque sensitivity. always moving around an unstable fringe of intuition-rules-over-eclecticism, together with an attitude of total irreverence against the old aphorism, but keeping at the same time an incredible discipline of sophistication, produce a situation where anything touched by them have to be immediately placed at the top of the evolution line of the electronic music. “pietà” simply shows this feeling at their best.

brazilian disco boogie sounds, is a compilation that brings together nine of the most important and obscure hits of the brazilian funk-boogie-disco scene during the years of 1978 to 1982. jùnior santos is a carioca drummer since his 15 years old, and is today a respected vinyl collector and music researcher. more than anything, he is carried on by the love of brazilian music, which has never been forgotten.

finally, leftback s own dudley strangeways rounds off the ep is his usual style, which cannot be described as anything less than true quality. as ever, black key have excelled in delivering a package which ticks all the right boxes, this is a release which will undoubtedly appeal to a diverse range of house music fans who appreciate a rather large nod to the underground. vinyl only.

constantly turning around itself, the winding melody of vertere turns outward and inward at the same time, bringing the listener on a journey outward while mirroring a simultaneous labyrinthine journey inward. like the word itself, vertere, with its roots in the latin word verto (which itself takes its roots in the earlier sanskrit word, vartayati) it signifies the very nature of change itself. it means both to turn and reflect inward and yet also move forward — a call to action for setting in motion new things. a paradox at first glance but also perhaps a surprisingly accurate description of the destructive and reconstructive nature of creation. an apt metaphor for this bright new collaboration between established life and death artists mind against and the new artist project of federico maccherone, aka somne. on remix duties, when you have an artist of the caliber of tobias freund, you don t need to ask for anything more and with his outstanding remix of vertere he very clearly shows why. this long time mainstay of the electronic music scene has managed to stay not just relevant but on the cutting edge longer than most with respected releases on some of the most seminal imprints to be putting out music in the world of underground dance music. with vertere he takes what s already top quality material and somehow manages to turn it inward and in his own unique way elevate it to another level entirely. with a relentless beat and a sonic force that is hard to describe with mere words the tobias. remix of vertere comes out of the gate like a runaway machine rapturously drunk on its own self awareness. it marches ever forward, full of fervor, and will surely be driving dance floors both large and small to the euphoric edge of the ecstatic state.

ive been over and over track running orders, while taking into account the limitations of vinyl. it needs to be a loud cut as anything increasing the chances of this music being played in clubs is a priority. the major development is, i d really like the a side at 45rpm, as before. as well as the extra volume, granular psychosis is an exciting prospect to be able to play at both speeds as its so fast. with this track list below, we re exceeding the time slightly for what i ve been advised is the best 45rpm quality. however, as zattrday has such a limited frequency range, that can be cut to take a very small part of the vinyl. i will talk to, about all this, and ultimately go with his advice of the best way to do this on the day. but i can say it will almost definitely happen like one of the two options below
